School Food Service Director

Rutland, VT

The Abbey Group is seeking a Food Service Director for the Rutland City Area.

Position is starting approximately June 10, 2019.

The Abbey Group is a Food Service Management Company. We are currently in the process of providing area school districts with a response to their request for proposal. During the proposal process we will be including our final 4 candidates for this position. If successful in the bid process the district will help determine the best candidate for this position.

Candidate must be able to meet USDA requirements. Please use the provided link to the USDA website to see what requirements are necessary for this position as a Food Service Director for a school district up to 2,500 students.

School nutrition experience and management experience is the preferred candidate.

School Food Service Directors are responsible for overseeing day to day operations for multiple school food service operations. You will manage and lead a team of associates at each site. You will serve as the liaison for The Abbey Group and school officials. Directors ensure the superior quality of food offered in our kitchens. A passion for handcrafted food created from local ingredients. Have a strong passion for expanding our farm to school and sea to school programs and a self motivated attitude are essential. Desired experience includes past experience with managing a National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs with knowledge of USDA regulations. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hospitality or Culinary degree preferred or equivalent
  • Three to five years of foodservice management experience preferred
  • School dining experience preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous experience managing a budget and hiring
  • Computer savvy, experience with Google Drive, Bridge training platform and Paychex an asset.
